Disney Cruise Line New York City sailings are officially back, and the rumor mill turned out to be right. Just days after that cryptic coordinates teaser had fans decoding starry-sky graphics, Disney confirmed it on August 25. The Disney Wish will homeport in New York for a Fall 2027 season. It’s the line’s first New York return since 2023.
Disney Dream held that role briefly three years ago, running a handful of Bermuda and Eastern Canada sailings. Before that, Disney Magic anchored New York departures back in 2016 and 2017. This time, Disney is sending its newer, larger Wish-class ship instead. Wish will arrive fresh off her inaugural European season before crossing over for the New York assignment.
Seven new itineraries make up the Fall 2027 New York season, ranging from four to seven nights. Sailings run from late September through early November, timed perfectly with fall foliage season. One standout is a four-night Bermuda sailing departing September 29 and returning October 3. Guests get two full days at King’s Wharf, Bermuda’s postcard-perfect port, rather than the usual quick stop.
A second highlight departs October 24 and returns October 31, a full seven nights round trip. That itinerary heads north instead, stopping in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, then Sydney and Halifax in Nova Scotia. Both ports rank among the prettiest small cities in Atlantic Canada, especially during peak foliage. Cobblestone streets, lighthouses, and lobster shacks line the waterfront in all three stops. Families who’ve wanted a Disney cruise without flying to Florida finally have a real option close to home.
New York’s return is just one piece of a much bigger announcement, too. Disney released its full Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 lineup the same day, spanning homeports across the country. San Juan, Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, and Galveston all got new or expanded itineraries. Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy will add extra Caribbean sailings out of San Juan. That gives East Coast cruisers heading to Puerto Rico even more scheduling flexibility.
San Diego cruisers get some genuinely exciting news of their own. Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will both sail from San Diego through early November 2027. Both ships will run three- to seven-night Baja and Mexican Riviera itineraries at the same time. Having two Disney ships based on the West Coast simultaneously is a rare treat for California families. It usually means shorter waitlists and more available sailing dates to choose from.
Disney Magic also picks up a genuinely unique assignment during repositioning season. She’ll run two 14-night Panama Canal crossings, connecting the coasts the long way. Those itineraries include new stops in Fuerte Amador, Panama, and Colón, ports Disney hasn’t used before. Transiting the canal itself remains a bucket-list moment for plenty of cruisers, Disney fan or not. Watching the ship rise and fall through the locks is genuinely unforgettable. Even kids glued to their tablets tend to look up for that part. Adding fresh Panamanian port calls only sweetens an already rare itinerary type.
If any of this has you already reaching for your calendar, mark two dates down. Castaway Club members get early booking access starting August 31. Everyone else can book starting September 8 at 8 a.m. Eastern on Disney’s website. New York sailings are expected to sell quickly, especially that Bermuda run. Waiting past opening day probably isn’t a great strategy.
It’s a good reminder that cruise line teasers, silly as they can seem, sometimes deliver exactly what fans hoped for. New York cruisers spent years asking for this moment. Disney finally gave it to them, wrapped in a fall foliage bow with Bermuda sunshine on the side.
